Shadow Hills by Anastasia Hopcus

Hello, hello!

I'm back from my one week vacation in the Bahamas and with it comes a new post. This post is all about a book that I am highly anticipating this summer:

From Goodreads:

Release Date: July 13, 2010
Publisher: Egmont USA
Hardcover, 400 pages

Book Description:
His love captivated her... his secrets might kill her.

Since her sister’s mysterious death, Persephone “Phe” Archer has been plagued by a series of disturbing dreams. Determined to find out what happened to her sister, Phe enrolls at Devenish Prep in Shadow Hills, Massachusetts—the subject of her sister’s final diary entry.

After stepping on campus, Phe immediately realizes that there’s something different about this place—an unexplained epidemic that decimated the town in the 1700s, an ancient and creepy cemetery, and gorgeous boy Zach—and somehow she’s connected to it all.

But the more questions she asks and the deeper she digs, the more entangled Phe becomes in the haunting past of Shadow Hills. Finding what links her to this town…might cost her her life.

I have been hearing all sorts of good things about this book but what really hooked me was reading the first chapter of the book which you can find HERE. Hopcus is a unique newcomer and I can't wait to see what she has going on in this new book of hers.

If you're impatient like me and can't wait for the July release of Shadow Hills, Hopcus has provided an opportunity to win a signed ARC of her book in a contest on her blog. You can find all the details on how to enter her Two Months to Go Contest HERE. So go check out the first chapter of Shadow Hills and the Two Months to Go Contest I promise you won't be disappointed! :-)

Lots of love and happy reading,

Erin

Lupus Awareness Month, Contest Promotions and Java Chip Frappuccino Ice Cream....

Hello my darlings! Welcome one and all to my new blog. Here I will be writing about a little bit of everything and maybe even reviewing some of the fabulous books that I've been reading. So let's get started!

It's officially May which is Lupus Awareness Month. It's estimated that about 80% of the general population knows nothing or very little about lupus. Which I find a very surprising statistic since lupus impacts the lives of 1.5 million Americans and when we think worldwide that number jumps to 5 million. I can honestly say that I'd never heard of lupus until a doctor diagnosed me with in October of 2004. Since then I've been living with the disease and doing everything I can to educate myself and others about it. Lupus doesn't have a cure and it had been 50 years since the FDA has a approved a drug specifically for lupus. If you don't know anything about lupus and would like to learn more drop by the website for the Lupus Foundation of American. There you can learn about what lupus is and how it affects the lives of those who have it. You can also learn about ways to spread awareness to others. I believe the fight against lupus is more important than ever and the best way to find a cure is to spread awareness of the issue.

Next on the agenda is a couple of contest promotions. I am an avid reader and there are a couple of very awesome book review blogs that are holding contests. First up is Penultimate Page who is doing a Shadow Hills and YA Swag giveaway. So if you're into YA books stop by her blog and check it out. Next up is Steph Su Reads who is holding a Big Spring Giveaway. There are lots of great YA books up for grab and if you're anything like me you do not want to miss out on this opportunity. So stop on by and have a look!

Finally, I just want to talk briefly about Starbuck's Java Chip Frappuccino Ice Cream. Really...WOW! All I can say is that I am coffee fiend and this ice cream is like frozen heaven that you eat with a spoon. It's fantastic and I am now addicted :-) Speaking off which I think I will finish this up so I can run to the store and buy some more.

So in review it's Lupus Awareness Month so get out there do some research and arm yourself with knowledge. If you're into reading and happen to like books in the YA genre there are some great book review blogs out there like the two I mentioned earlier in the post and finally, if you love coffee and ice cream I highly recommend that you try the Java Chip Frappuccino ice cream.

Well that's all for now my darlings! Until next time, much love!
